Description
Array 3X – Wheat/Gluten Proteome Reactivity & Autoimmunity
The Array 3X is an advanced test for gluten and wheat-related immune reactions.
What does this test measure?
Traditional celiac testing looks at a few markers (like IgA to tissue transglutaminase and IgA to endomysium, and IgG/IgA to deamidated gliadin). Cyrex 3X broadens this by measuring antibodies to multiple components of wheat:
- Different fractions of gliadin (alpha, beta, gamma, omega)
- Glutenin (the other major gluten component)
- Breakdown peptides like gluteomorphin and prodynorphin
- Non-gluten wheat proteins like wheat germ agglutinin (WGA)
- Autoimmune targets triggered by gluten: Transglutaminase 2, 3, and 6
By measuring IgG and IgA levels for various components of wheat, this test can identify reactions to wheat even when standard tests are negative.
Who is this test most suitable for?
- Patients with autoimmune diseases (RA, Hashimoto’s, etc.) investigating gluten cross-reactivity
- Athletes or health enthusiasts suspecting mild gluten sensitivity affecting performance
- Individuals with negative standard tests but ongoing gluten-related symptoms
Clinical Use
This is particularly useful for diagnosing Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) or for recognizing atypical presentations of celiac disease, such as cases where a person may have neurological issues due to TG6 autoimmunity without gastrointestinal symptoms. If any of these antibodies are found to be positive, it indicates that the immune system is responding to wheat or gluten components, suggesting that a strict gluten-free diet may be necessary. The test can also reveal whether the individual’s immune response has led to autoimmunity, such as the presence of TG2, TG3, or TG6 antibodies, which could indicate early stages of celiac disease or related conditions.
